I was able to find the bill when I realized that it also appears in the list of "reminders." I was able to move forward the date (using the calendar) and find it, and indeed it was set for Dec 31 2012. I edited it to just be for 2/29/2012 repeating every month.
Now, it's even stranger. If I look at the list of reminders/upcoming transactions that appears on my dashboard, I can see it on there - for 2/29/12. But when I look at the list of Bill Tracker items for the next 30 days, it just isn't there. I've refreshed both pages several times and this persists. The bill is for "Dairlyand Auto" if you're looking.
These are great tools, but a little confusing in the sense that they're somewhat duplicative. I have never liked that the Reminders with Transaction info added would automatically add the transaction to the register when the date arrives. Also, if I add the amount due and all that to the Bill Tracker, I'm wondering if it's going to add the transaction to my register *twice* (since the same thing is also set as a "reminder" in that list -- The confusion arises because both the "Bill Due" and the "Reminder" appear in the list of Reminders/Upcoming Transactions on the dashboard.)
I originally came to CCB from MS Money, which I used for many years, but was getting older and was no longer supported, plus I wanted something web-based. (I also switched to Mac). One thing I really did like about MS Money was the way reminders worked.
Ideally, I would like a neatly kept "list" of bills that appears by date, always rolling the ones coming due to the top (and moving them back to the bottom once paid). You should be able to keep the amount due there, and update it whenever as necessary (as most bills change month to month). No transaction is ever automatically added (right now, with CCB, I don't see a way to keep track of due date and amount due without also automatically adding the transaction to the register). Instead, a "pop-up" windows opens on or before the due date, allowing you to either "snooze" or add it to the register. Seems that I recall that you were able to set how far in advance you wanted the reminder to pop up.
As it is right now, I keep my own list of bills coming due, along with amount and due date, using the "Notes" feature, and I'm always taking them off the top of the list once paid and putting them at the bottom and manually changing the date. So, I'm actually now using "Reminders," "Bill Tracker," and "Notes," all to accomplish the same thing. With all the tools on CCB, this ought not be necessary.
Just my 2 cents. -Aaron
