Introducing ClearCheckbook Investment Portfolio

5/11/2012 in ClearCheckbook Updates
ClearCheckbook Investment Portfolio
We're happy to release a new tool today called the Investment Portfolio. The Investment Portfolio helps you track your various stocks and mutual funds so you can watch your gains over time. Included with the Investment Portfolio tool is a new gadget so you can watch these same investments from your Dashboard.

To get started, simply enter any stocks or mutual funds you've purchased. You'll just need to enter the date purchased, number of shares, purchase price per share and any commission. We'll use this data to calculate a Cost Basis that we'll use to compare with the Market Value so you can track your gains.

The Investment Portfolio is available to all members who have upgraded to our Premium Membership. The new tool can be found by clicking on the Tools menu and then click on the Investment Portfolio link.

Note: All investment data is provided by Yahoo! Finance and is delayed by 20 minutes.

iPhone App logging out issue

3/28/2012 in ClearCheckbook Updates
If you've updated to the latest version of the iPhone app and it logs you out every time you close the app, please delete the app and re-install it. In every case this has fixed the bug.

We're still trying to determine what's causing this to happen with some users, but until then the delete/re-install technique will fix the problem.

New iPhone App in Development

2/24/2012 in ClearCheckbook Updates
It's been about a year and a half since we initially released our iphone app. In that time, iOS has undergone some major changes which have pretty much crippled our existing app. After looking into the issue for a while, we found a solution that meets our needs to start developing a new iPhone app.

The main issue we were facing was with each new mobile device that comes out, they all require a new app to be created using their own custom framework and code which means every app we develop is one more set of code we have to worry about keeping updated. The method we decided on will help keep these issues at bay while still being able to provide a native app.

Currently, the new iPhone app handles logging in, registering, account overviews, transaction register and transaction viewing. We hope to have the new app completed and released by the end of March.

Here are some screen shots of the app currently in development:

As you can see, the app looks a lot nicer than the current one.

If you're an existing iPhone user, please use the mobile optimized website by going to clearcheckbook.com in the browser on your phone. This will work much better than the current iPhone app.

Stay tuned for more updates.

ClearCheckbook Introduces Balances Timeline Reports

1/6/2012 in ClearCheckbook Updates
We just released a new feature available to all premium members that lets you view your end of month balances for the entire timeline of your transaction register. This feature provides both a visual and a textual view of your balances from the first transaction you added to the latest.

The visual report allows you to select certain date ranges to get a more focused view of your balances. You can also switch between 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year and All Time viewing modes. The textual table is fully sortable so you can easily figure out when your balance was the highest.

The Balances Timeline report can be found by going to the Reports page and then click on the "Balances Timeline" link under the Accounts tab.

ClearCheckbook Introduces the Auto-Jive Tool!

1/4/2012 in ClearCheckbook Updates
We released a new tool today that will make it easier to reconcile your accounts. The Auto-Jive tool lets you upload CSV, QIF, OFX and QFX files to the site that contain cleared transactions from your bank or financial institution. We then search through your transaction register and find matching transactions. Once matches are found, you can easily jive those transactions.

The Auto-Jive tool has adjustable filters so you can change the search criteria. By default we search for the exact amount and transactions that are within three days of each other. You can easily change these to find transactions that might have taken longer to post than the default.

We’ll also let you know if there are any transactions that don’t match so you can investigate why. If they simply haven’t been added to your register yet, you can easily import them into your account.

Auto-Jive is available to all premium members and can be found by clicking on Tools at the top of the page and then click on the “Auto-Jive Your Transactions” link.
